Southport was another Lancashire seaside resort which received just the one visit from the Hollywood
comedians - Laurel and Hardy. Perhaps one week was enough. First of all Southport had been hit by a
terrible storm just a couple of days before Stan and Ollie arrived - 1952. And then Stan
was laid low by diabetes, and spent most of his time in the hotel. The theatre, though, was packed nightly.

A great atmospheric postcard picture showing what
Southport promenade looked like during Stan and Babe's visit
